I just discovered Red and Rover few months ago. Gosh I missed a great comic. Will go back to beginning when I have time. LOVE the first panel. Nothing like a child and his best friend. Just kissed my Andy dog who is snuggled right next to me at 3:15 am chicago time.
My Gracie helps me so much! Just like Rover. For instance, she barks when my stove alarm goes off, which I can’t always hear in the living room. She has her own bark sounds. A ‘cat’ bark sounds different from a ‘postman on the porch’ bark, etc. She’s so protective!
I remember sleeping over at a friend’s house. I was fast asleep until my friends chihuahua mix made little whimpery barking sounds because she wanted to go out. And of course, my friend remained fast asleep; you’d think her ears would be attuned to that sound and respond immediately, but no. I was the one roused by the tiny sound.

My dog (pictured @ left) is a sleepyhead. She loves sleeping with her “peeples”. Reluctantly gets up when the last one of us decides to roll out.
