I woke up in the middle of the night with extreme abdominal cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and no fever. It scared me and my wife, the nurse, enough to go to the ER. It passed quickly with no other symptoms by morning. I read later that those are the symptoms of a neurotoxin spider bite.

I don’t mind spiders, I have very few lately, now that I think about it. But I understand those who have that fear. I have a friend who has that fear of spiders, and another who has that fear of birds. And that friend who is afraid of birds, never even saw the Alfred Hitchcock film “The Birds”, she has no idea why she is afraid of birds. And she is now 60.
