Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for March 28, 2015

Transcript:
Teacher: "Save your scraps of shared ego. We shall soon build with them! Adieu!"
Student 1: "Build what, a dump? How lame"
Luann: "We're supposed to save these!"
Student 2: "Yeah! They're like super important!"
Yeah, if Luann became an animated series, I could definitely see Patrick Warburton as “Jock”.. – A bunch of relating….now comes the creating…. – At least all they’d have to do, is just do 17 more…and ‘shred ’em’…..
“Reconstructive Criticism”“The Eye Of The Paper Tiger” (♫)“Unhappy Trails… To You…” (♫)“A Crumb-y Assignment”“Cliffhanger Hangover”“Trail Mix”“Losing Yourself In Your Work”“The Quicker Mixer-Upper”“Running On Empty”or“Hansel And Regrettal”
So shredding the self-portraits was just one step in the creation of a larger art project. There was no need to threaten Mr. Zebo with lawsuits or invoke some collegiate “rules” about destruction of property, etc.
I’m wondering if Professor Zero will be wearing a beret the next time we see him, or maybe he’ll be missing an ear. He’s doing a good job of acting like the stereotype of ‘weird artist’, so he should look the part…
Scroll up. Several posts back, I showed the strip from the first time we saw this class, and there were a bunch of “shadow people” in the classroom in addition to these three students.
Zebo’s next venture into art with Luann as the victim subject:.1. Place Luann in a large clear glass cylinder..2. Fill the cylinder with pale yellow – colored water^Sort of like “Double Dare”. Funny how Luann always ends taking the “Physical Challenge”…
You Know what, Luann? YOU could have SPENT the Last Few Weeks in ANOTHER Class learning about World Economics, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Programming But Nooooo. YOU had to WASTE Your Time in Professor Moon-Bat’s B/S “Art Class.” A “Class” whose ONLY Lesson Seemed to Have Been: “How One MUST Always Take JOY whenever One’s HARD Work Is Publicly Destroyed Before a Group of Peers, and Never Forget to Feel Real Gooey GOOD about Yourself While DOING It.”
I don’t know if he is being metaphorical. But if not I was close, because “taping the pieces back together” would be sort of like building with the pieces.
Actually, if he’s being metaphorical, Emo is dismissive of his ego, which means he’s self-effacing and modest. Jock is careless with his ego, which means he’s careless about what people think of him and will do his thing no matter what they say. Luann is proud and wants to hang onto her ego, which means she’s just like Tiffany. Sorry, but I’m just sayin’!
Again, I have to point out an analogy – it is common in a chemistry lab course to use the compounds that you produced one week in making some different compounds the next week. This of course destroys what you did the previous week, even though you put a lot of work into it. It’s all just part of the process.
The museum’s board of directors has recently adopted a new Regulation regarding photography in the museum:
“Still and video photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only in the galleries housing the permanent collection.
The use of flash or other means of artificial lighting is prohibited.
Photography and filming are not permitted in the temporary exhibition galleries. The same restrictions apply to the photographing or filming of technical installations and equipment.
Special permits can be obtained for educational or research projects; requests should be made in writing>>
Oh no, it sounds like Colonel Zebo is coming back. Can we please say adieu to Zebo forever and ever? Can we shred Zebo up and throw him in the trash like the Emo Kid? Anything, but please, please get rid of Zebo!
Someone may have written this but I am guessing they will be assigned to take some of the shreds and rebuild their portraits in a collage style – thus rebuilding themselves. That actually sounds like a cool art project, would have been nicer if the professor had explained that from the beginning though.
When doing homework for Zebo, make copies of everything. And turn in the copies. Because he’s going to destroy whatever you give him, for no reason other than to make a stupid point.
So many comments are just plain mean. I don’t blame Evans for not reading the comments, he said he finds them distressing and I can see why. I for one enjoy his work everyday (as silly as it is sometimes) some days more than others. A major reason I like Luann comic strip is because it is often laugh out loud funny. Plus I love reading the comments.
they still part of the class, GREG is just saving having to draw them, and set up Emo/Jock/Lue as the trio who will work together in this class, and there are “other trios” that we will not see (for Greg’s convenience)
Two days late, but I finally got to see the strip!*This is such a beautiful display of the characters’ characters.- Emo man emotes and will later regret his act.- Little girl obeys authority figure, only to later lose it in her room- Mr. Jock has the will but not the way.*If he has them each create real art out of those scraps, this will have been an amazing arrrrgh lesson.

Then why did that lame-brain decide to take an art class if he’s not liking the teacher’s teaching methods?

I think the guy on the left is supposed to reflect audience opinion of the art teacher.

Dumpy Emo and hole in the Jock got lost but confused Lue was still in the game as she keeps following instructions to a tee

It occurs to me that this appears to be an awfully small class.

I’m actually becoming quite intrigued with his methods. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait months to find out what his method to his madness is.

I bet the professor put a hole in his ego bag on purpose.

Only three people in the class?

When I was in college, at least 4 students had to be enrolled in a course for it to be offered that term.

Honest students got a chance to stretch themselves, by researching/developing 17 different styles, but I would not have shredded my work.

Seriously? A bell to end class? Dark ages and high school, man. And the teacher is completely off the wall. Pretty lame material.

What college or university has bells ringing to dismiss classes? I thought that ended in high school.

Maybe one-eyed Emo guy will replace Crystal, and not-too-bright Mr. Jock will replace Knute.

I liked Crystal & Knute, I hope they will return. Of course by now Knute might have settled into a career as a bathroom attendant.
