Oops! Within just 10 days of opening, the $15 million Scorciavacche Bridge in Sicily collapsed! Typeface! New York designer Michael Allen created a font by shaving his beard into letters of the alphabet! Oh... And by the way... An Iowa man's 2013 online classified ad selling an oak coffin forgot to mention one thing- the skeleton inside!

That’s quite a downfall in southern Italy.

The same thing happened in St Louis Mo in the 1960’s. The Loughborough Ave overpass at I-55 collapsed the day before it was to be opened to traffic.

Isn’t it against the law to sell human remains?

He wasn’t selling the remains, he was selling the coffin. The remains were a perk.

Haha! Forgot, a very abused and misused word. It rarely means what its definition is.

Sicily? Hmmmm, one has to wonder who had the contract to supply concrete for the construction of that bridge

I’m sure the coffin-seller didn’t forget to mention it, he purposefully did it since it’s illegal to sell bodies on the open market.

1. That Sicilian bridge would have held up if the concrete was mixed according to the ancient Roman recipe.-2. The most famous example of a collapsing bridge was in Washington State in 1940. Resonating with the wind, it swung to and fro until it failed. It was replaced with the engineering problem eliminated and was successful.

The maddest my grandmother ever got was once when I referred to us as Italians. While I really have no dog in the fight, now, in memory of my grandmother, I always make sure to say its Sicilian, not Italian, when people ask about my last name.
And it’s a viaduct, not a bridge, Ripley. Basically, the ground underneath it shifted and someone didn’t account for that.

Maybe it should have been specified without occupant — no bones about it.
