Any knit cap is fine for a night cap. I have a knit hunting cap that is very good at insulating your head. And it is NOT a myth, you do lose 10% of your body heat radiating from your head.
My old Plugger wears what he calls a “suggin”, a soft knit cap, when he sleeps. He’s from a family where all the men are bald at a very early age. I think suggin is a word from the 1800’s. Last year I found some nice soft felt caps from a sporting goods company. He loves those.
