    Yes, all of the above.

Funny, they didn’t mention those programs they dissed the previous two days. Trudeau isn’t paying attention to his own strip.

What? A Republican claiming she doesn’t intend to BORROW from the Chinese and the Saudis to finance their pork barrel nonsense?

Stop the presses. That’d be one I’d have to see to believe.

What’s that Ravenswing? You don’t believe that a politician would CLAIM to INTEND to do ANYTHING if said claims would help it get elected?

Finally, an accurate representation of what the Tea Party movement is all about. The “No New Taxes and Borrowing” - from Democrats OR Republicans - seems a lot less like a political agenda and more like plain ol’ common peoples’ common sense.

No wonder there’s such hatred for the Tea Partiers from the left.

Nemesys - easy to say, not so easy to do once you’re in office. I haven’t heard anything from the tearoom in terms of how they actually plan to accomplish most of the things they want.

Orgelspieler, saying “no” to programs like that false “stimulus” program, carbon tax, and VAT is a good place to start. Supporting businesses to expand and hire - instead of vilifiying and taxing them until they leave the country- is even better. Real border security and increased drug user penalties (while not a specific tea party platform issue) would keep the benefits pot a little more under control. And finally, renovation of mandatory social programs such as Social Security and Medicare that would give participants the right to choose private alternatives would foster investments in the country (each other) rather than overfeeding the glutonous ponzi-scheming government monster (both Republicans and Democrats), which has already spent on other things that which it has been entrusted.

None of it would be easy, but it’s all being said (not reported in the NY Times, CNBC or Comedy Central, of course).

Test is coming in Florida. Crist is running independent. Pat Buch. is already saying the guy is trying to go to the left so the Repubs will not split and hand the election to the dems. Nice litmus test to see if a conservative can win Indep. like Joe did. Might tea up a few runs later on. :0)

Nemesys said: “Finally, an accurate representation of what the Tea Party movement is all about.”

You’re more correct than you know. Everything is rah-rah until they have to get specific; then they realize that they will have to sacrifice something that isn’t a straw man – the shoe pinches badly when it’s on the other foot.

“Plain ol’ common peoples’ common sense” usually means, “Don’t bother me with complications I don’t want to understand – just make anything I don’t like go away.”

As for your other post, well…send us a picture postcard from your planet, will you? It sounds so much simpler than the one we really live on.

Why do you want people to hate you, other than crypto-masochism and willfully incipient martyrdom?

But Sweet Sarah is even cuter as she leads you people to the EVE OF DESTRUCTION.

Really, it is a pity that irony and sarcasm are so difficult to identify in printed form ~~ and the difference between Palin jokes and Blond jokes is that blondes read labels.

Utter stupidity is what the movement is all about. Complete lack of education. But mostly cognitive dissonance.

nemesys wrote: “No wonder there’s such hatred for the Tea Partiers from the left.”

You seem to be struggling. Let me help. The left hates the “baggies” because: a) they tarnish the name of the Sons of Liberty who risked their lives to form a new nation, b) only those who actually have knowledge should be permitted an opinion. Since the combined knowledge of those attending a baggie party is less than that of a rock, they do not have the basis for bloviating, c) the baggies hate this country and the principles upon which it was founded. They simply don’t understand enough to know how wrong they are.

Soldierboy is right. Cutting waste and fraud from Medicare was going to finance all the wonderful results that a creepingly nationalized healthcare system is supposed to bring us.

So they’ve had over 40 years to get all the waste and fraud out of Medicare. Shouldn’t they have gotten that done by now? And of course, there won’t be any waste and fraud in the new system, right?

But Leftists are long-used to dreaming of pie-in-the-pie fantasies, like the Worker’s Paradise on Earth.

Super Griz ~~ yes, irony and sarcasm do go well with mockery and ridicule, but in printed form , all pre-supppose a goodly level of intelligence on the part of the Reader.

Sometimes “I ha’e m’ do’ots” and take the comments with a lifted eyebrow!

The subtext of this week’s Doonesbury strip is positively preternatural.

Every time the strip defines a particular lunacy of tea-podders, a reader responds as a real life example of that lunacy.

“Podders” deriving from the “pod people” of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.
