    My Dad warned me about ditch digging until he gave me my first ditch to dig and my own hand me down shovel his pappy had. But I dug my way to the top. One man One shovel is what I say it all boils down to.

    At minimum wage (probably) she couldn’t afford an apartment anyway. Also, sounds like a part time job…

    she probably couldn’t earn enough to support herself and two children…. otherwise, good honest work is good honest work. no shame

    People with a professional work history are discriminated against for more basic jobs because employers figure you’ll just get bored and quit (and they’re very often right).

    She’s taking that job.

    It still won’t do anything for her relationship with her mother because:

    A) Old people are stubborn.

    B) Jane Tinker has no power over anybody.
