Greg, I can see why you like the slapstick of your early work but I’ve really come to appreciate your more recent stuff, since the kids “grew up” a bit. The last few years have been very good reads, especially as I work with and around numerous teens and young adults. There is no way I could pick a favorite so I’ll just say “thanks” for the many years of fun.
Though I felt bad for making all the other strips “feel bad” (due to not including them, especially some of your classic work from between 85-95), I was able to finally able to narrow it down to these two strips:
One of them was the one from December 11, 2012 where Luann and Quill were helping Rosa and Gunther to “break the ice” on a “double date”. And since Quill was out of the country, he was there via “Skype” (or a similar product). So as Rosa and Luann went off to get their bowling balls, she hands off “Tele-Quill” to Gunther so that they could chat. The next two panels were hilariously “awkward”, as Gunther and Quill were trying hard to fill the time with “small talk”! – I also loved the strip from 3/2/14, where Luann mentions “Photoshopping” herself to make changes, and that’s where “comic metaphysics” take over, as Luann decides to get rid of everything, even her mouth- which, “ironically”, if she had just went with that first, might have helped save her from ending up as just a “manekin” head, Lol!!!
Although I enjoy all of LuAnn’s antics, I especially love the interaction between her parents. They remind me so much of my husband and myself! Although I have a number of favorites, this happened again this week after her spring break from college and after high school and every school break it’s the same story! Thanks for all the laughs over the years! http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2014/06/22

I like it. It’s very funny. I’ll bet that if you it today, a lot of women will still get it. And a lot of men will be mad.
