No offence, but Wally’s original plan of just standing there and letting Phil beat him to death doesn’t seem to be “dying like a man” to me

Has anyone speculated yet that there may be two Wallys that have somehow landed in this universe? Like the immediately adjacent universe collapsed, and Wally a was slipped into this universe with Wally b ? No? JusAskin Voting links in profile

Wally2 can’t be a ditto construct as they don’t talk…. do they? although the illusions they gave Sparkplug were in IMAX and stereo….

Well, hope the final gladiatorial match is entertaining enough as Rome begins to burn. Better tune your fiddle!

But, yes, they’re no longer “talking at the same time.” Not sure if these dittos are getting smarter, or this is part of Phil’s confusion.

Phil: “Here’s a deal. One of you stand still and I’ll beat that one to a pulp. If the other one is still in the ring by the time I’m done, I’ll see if I still have enough energy for a double-header.”

Okay, Wally is beside himself, and it appears he doesn’t ’t care for his own company.

It’s my opinion that there’s no such thing as “dying like a man”…it’s just dying.

Unless that smoke is an illusion, and if it spreads, will it escape Lizardtown and alert the Topsiders, with their supermutt destroyers? The reptiles can’t retain it in their community.

I’m guessing the dittos are filibustering until they can get Holly ringside

Could Jim have become to able be a shape-shifter?

Could someone who doesn’t like Phil slipped something into his breakfast coffee?

Maybe Jim’s been hijacked by the dittos.

Whatever Wally2 is knows what he’s thinking. We know the dittos are telepathic, but they’re not KNOWN to make sounds. There were hints that Jim could read Wally’s mind. Maybe he was getting signals from the dittos. Jim is about the same size as Wally, so it’s possible this is Jim working with dittos for some reason. The dittos would disguise Jim and relay Wally’s thoughts, and Jim would supply the vocals.

A raccoon that’s a crazy, out-of-his-mind, slavering destroyer is more likely to set a fire and splatter eggs than play ring-around-the-Phil with Wally. That only leaves a Ditto card and a Marx card left to play, and Marx is definitely the more playful. Or… maybe the dittos have amplified Wally’s developing Schism syndrome into a literal event, and Holly will now have wall-to-wall Wally.

Ignoring the fact that Phil is such a pr**k, I almost feel sorry for him as he hasn’t the foggiest idea of what is going on. He came here expecting to be the center of attention while destroying a small victim but said victims have stolen the show, are running around his legs treating him like a tree to be ignored and turning his presence into a joke!

His confusion in panel one is hilarious – Aaron has captured it so well.

I wonder what the mechanics are of putting on a pair of trunks over a long thick tail? Legs first? No, can’t fit the tail. Tail first? No can’t fit the legs. Enquiring minds want to know.

How do you think Phil feels? Here was his chance to beat up a little guy and look like a hero. Now, he looks more like a Mayfair Pole.

The Wallies will now combine into Metawally and wreak havoc, starting with Phil. Are anthro lizards able to detach their tails willingly or unwillingly? Let’s find out…

Terry Pratchett, of Discworld renown has passed away in his home, surrounded by his family and cat. I know some people here were fans of his, so just a bit off topic but in or around the universe.

Wally 2 apparently appeared out of thin air. If he is solid, then it could be an extra-dimensional occurrance…and that’s a Marx thing. If Wally 2 isn’t solid then maybe dittos, or some other kind of illusion we haven’t encountered yet. Whatever…it will make sense in the context of the strip.

I notice in panel 3 that both Wallies are positioned for a great uppercut to the philodendrons.
