I think you are referring to the line “If I should die before I wake.” I am so sorry that frightened you. I always took it as a meaning that I was about to (or could) “go home.” When I explained it to my children, (as it had been explained to me) they also understood. It is a true sign of faith. I am 80 and still say that prayer every night!
