My first big program was a top down golf game on an old HP computer. It had a 3×5 inch black and white screen, tape printer and a floppy drive. The thing was that HP basic was awesome and you could do crude graphics easily to get trees, traps, greens etc.
My brother-in-law is an avid golfer and has a computer game he plays all the time. I got a picture of a golf ball on a tee, photoshopped his initials on it, made it into an icon and put it on his desktop shortcut for the game. He thought I was a genius and got a kick out of how I personalize the game for him.
