Here’s a mystery, did Philo Farnsworth have any idea what his invention would ultimately lead to?

Did you know that the can opener was invented about 50 years after the invention of the can? (I know it’s off topic.)

It is a good question: how did we visually portray getting an idea before the lightbulb? And who thought of using a lightbulb as a symbol for an idea?

A light bulb went off over Edison´s head. Then he grabed it and presented it as his own.

After reading the comments, thought I would do a little research. First, the light bulb was invented about 50 years before Edison. Neither Edison or Tesla invented it. Edison promoted DC (batteries), Tesla promoted AC (wires). It wasn’t the light bulb they fought over, it was the means to power said bulb. Finally, Tesla was best at inventing, Edison was best at marketing. They both kind of needed each other, one to make the product, one to sell the product.

It was an idea for a light bulb, so it was a light bulb.

Well since he invented it, the first lightbulb. Unfortunately, every idea before that was celebrated with a candle, so inventors and philosophers were treated as human fire hazards.
