When I was a kid, we had a miniature Cocker Spaniel that was “handed down” to us. Her first owner was a widower who not only fed her people food, but fed her at the table. By the time she got to us, she would eat from a bowl on the floor, but still had more of a taste for “people food” instead of “dog food”.
One year we were to sick to go to the family thanksgiving meal, older relatives didn’t need the illness. So my mother-in-law brought our meal to us. Bear barked at her till she yelled “Stop it or you don’t get any gravy,”. Shut him up immediately. :)
My dog ate when he was hungry.Of course, we’d often gave him a little something extra. When we were cooking, we’d often top his food with something like a little extra ground beef I’d just browned, or some leftover cheese sauce for macaroni and cheese.I sure miss him.
If the cat don’t eat fine by me, it sits there till it’s gone. When he gets a job he can buy his own food. Sometimes it is understandable though when you see squirrel tails around.
If we gave our dog a piece of steak, he would run and bury it in the ground, let it ripen about 3 days, then dig it up and eat it. Ham, on the other hand, he loved, and would eat it straight, as it was pre-ripened.

Not just the dog food, but insert a foot into that mouth of yours as well, Jon.

I thought only cats were that fussy…

Never let the dog run the home. If he won’t eat, maybe she is trying to feed him too much. Let him go hungry one day and he will eat.

Try it with ketchup, Jon.

That dog should be eating kibble, not canned food. Put it down….they will eat when they are hungry enough.

My dog gets fussy sometimes, so I say “fine I’ll give it to the cat” within minutes it’s eaten!

Sorry Elly, I don’t think there’s any way to make that look good. Buy a giant bag of dry food and add a little water or broth.

I thought dogs had a fairly good sense of smell. If they can smell cooking they will know it’s not what just went “Sploip!”

Finally — she stunned Dr. Know-it-All into a well appreciated slience!

Give him kibble, then. It won’t get gross when left sitting out for five years.

Raw food is better. The kibble ingredients make my stomach churn
