Absinthe was once a popular drink, and gained the reputation in early 20th century literature as favored by disreputable types. You may have tasted anise, one of the main ingredients, but did you ever taste another ingredient wormwood? I’ve grown it as a medicinal herb, and it is the most bitter thing I ever tasted!

I’m a “disreputable type”—just ask my mother in law! And when my wife bought a $50 bottle of supposed absinthe, I was hugely unimpressed. Get Nyquil instead—similar results but it tastes better.
