Cuco: A study shows that the U.S. has become notably less Christian. Almost 25% are now agnostic or atheist. What do you say about that? Eddie: Praise Allah.
Another description I have read indicates that many of those who no longer identify as “religious” were not actually religious before, but merely going with the stronger political flow.
Since the current flow is no longer as strongly religious it is easier to abstain rather than advocate for a position that is politically problematic.
It’s a fascinating dynamic, and the ramifications are not entirely clear. But, I’m not sure that’s entirely bad news for religions in general. I suspect many people claimed religious affiliation because society (or expediency) demanded it rather than because of any real faith. That’s not good for anyone.
Well, I’m not particularly religious but I don’t believe that we’re an accident. I DO believe that most of the trouble in this world is a direct result of a combination of religious insistence on being the ONLY right way to worship in combination with big business encouraging internecine warfare for profit.

Here in Washington State, it’s one of the most irreligious states of the United States.

religion is not the problem, lack of moral ethos is.

I’m just happy that more and more Americans are coming to their senses about religion and wish the rest of the world would follow…
