At the “Last Family Waterfight” my older sister took the hose from the front yard over the roof to the back yard to spray the rest of us. Everything was fine until she stepped onto the fiberglass roof of the patio and fell through. Luckily all she needed were a few stiches where she bit her lip.
Afterwards she asked me why I didn’t fall through when I was up there sweeping it off. I told her, “I stand on the roof supports.”
Ah, but the hose has very limited portability, and the super soaker had much greater portability. And the hose’s ammunition supply can be cut off with the turn of the valve.

In the annual summer arms race, the hose is still the apex of weaponry.
