And what real issue is this about?

He’s been wearing those glasses for some time now, but Trudeau is right about the intent – he and his handlers believe he looks more intelligent wearing them, and that the public is stupid enough to believe a person who wears eyeglasses reads a lot. Perry is a good-ole-boy rancher type with an agriculture degree only. He never should have been in any political office.

Seems like the political strategy equivalent of stuffing your bra in junior high.

Say what you want about Perry, and lord knows we all could, it is those voters in Texas that kept him in office and such people as his successor, a foreign born Senator who really is McCarthy lite, and a few other stimulating minds in Congress such as Louis Gomer (sp?)

Perry made Bush look good as Texas governor.

When Perry replaced W as governor, Bill Maher remarked that W was now known “as the smart one.”

The current boob, Abbot, said that his governorship would not be defined by abortion and guns. Yep, now abortion clinics are closing and good ol’ boys can now pack their trusty six shooters on their hip, everywhere but Whataburger.The Mini-Richards can now slide out of their giant Diesel pickups, with stacks sticking through the beds, belching black smoke, settle their shootin’ irons in the Buscadero rig from Cabela’s and swagger into Chick Filet.

One should remember three things about Rick Perry: One, he’s under indictment for abuse of power; Two, his family hunting ranch is called N———head Rock; and Three….Um, er three…. Oops.

His third goal, it turns out, is to do away with free public education and replace it with church-run charter schools, about what Bobby Jindal is doing in Louisiana.

As to Perry’s own educational career, his college transcripts are (or used to be) available online. You can see how well he did in science classes (Ds and Fs, consistently), which would indicate he has a “rich boy’s degree.”

And our current Bright Boy here in Texas, Gov. Abbott, is the one who sent out the Texas national guard to “keep an eye on” war games the US Army was holding out in west Texas.

Sometimes people do things for reasons other than what is assumed. I often clear my throat because I have allergies and it causes me to need to do so. Yet, if you do this in a crowd, there are always those around you who think you are doing this due to wanting attention. Not so! Not at all. I am no Rick Perry fan, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. I have read that Hillary prefers to do without glasses but like many who wear both contact lenses and glasses, she sometimes gives up on the contacts as they get a little difficult to put up with after a certain number of hours and not everyone is a candidate for lasik eye surgery.This is being said, one can be both unintelligent and nearsighted or farsighted, as seems to be the case with Rick Perry.

Zipper’s line about reading “Something Texan, like a menu or a death warrant” is the funniest thing I’ve read all weekend!

Jeeze. Got a new prescription for glasses this year, went to buy new ones and discovered that the ONLY thing available are those (hipster?!) black-framed things I’d been wearing for DECADES! ’Sup with THAT?!? :-(

According to the International Monetary Fund and Bureau of Economic Analysis, the rankings of states according to GDP:1. California 2. Texas 3. New York 4. Florida 5. Illinois. Yes, Texas is #2, however, California is #1, that super liberal place over on the west coast and New York, another liberal haven, is coming in at #3. Florida is kind of down the middle politically, so always to be watched. Illinois tends toward Democrats, though they have both. In my state of Kansas, we no longer had enough $ in the budget to keep our public schools open and had to close early in 2015. We have a terrible governor, who continues to try to apply the trickle down system of increasing taxes on the poor, cut social services and cut taxes on the rich. Sam Brownback is his name and we are limping along economically thanks to his policies.

But they all needed them.Since every US President has been at least 40 years old, they would at least need readers! ….Actually, TR, at 42, was the youngest. And probably the one most associated with wearing glasses!….LBJ was the first to wear contact lenses.

church run private schools(paid for by our taxes) is a way to teach the lower classes to kneel, pray and accept their fate. The problem here is that there are no real standards and either we pay for remedial teaching later, or even worse, allow them to vote without any education.

not all church schools are substandard, but you can bet the ones that will accept vouchers won’t be exactly prep schools.

Catholis schools were supposed to be great, but when I finally made the break at the top of the class, I found out I was not so in public school, we were about a year behind.

It is true that some still don’t like the affordable health care act, or obamacare. However, far more people now have health care insurance than before it was enacted. Therefore, it was successful, as far as it went. Those who don’t want universal health care can always move to one of the 3rd world countries which don’t have it. Everyone else in the world has it in terms of advanced countries.

On the contrary, I think eye-glasses do make people look smarter, unless they’re Groucho Marx eye-glasses.

We do keep voting these idiots into office; we deserve what we get. I’ve been voting in Texas since 1976 and I have never voted for a winning gubernatorial candidate. But I keep trying.
