In Michigan, we get ALL of August off..It’s against the law to go to school before Labor Day….That’s when we make the best tourist money because the weather is so nice….We need the kids to sell T-shirts and pasties…

Had brother-in-law from NW Ohio(you know that place just south of Deetroit) visit the other day in eastern NC. Said he was tired of Ohio cool weather, wanted some heat….after just one day of 98deg at 90% humidity, he queried how we live here.

When I was growing up in Georgia, and even when I taught there, we always got out about June 5th and went back either after Labor Day for just before it. I remember on year the teachers decided to not issue books till they came back from Labor Day.
