    This is so true, except for the instant-on kind.

    Wish I could find an instant-on CFL spotlight for my outside lights - the slow-on ones just don’t do the trick.

    BTW, FLAGGED THAT AIR-JORDAN SPAM!

    My GF was going to throw out a CFL bulb, but I couldn’t stand the idea of tossing a working bulb, so I took it home. The bulb was sitting on my table when the incandescent bulb over the table burned out, so since it was there and I felt committed to using it, I replaced the dead bulb with the CFL.

    Now every time I turn on that light, I shudder at the hideous, dull green-blue arctic-cold color which I turn on as seldom and as briefly as possible. Since the CFL probably has years of life yet, I will have to decide at what point I hate it so much I will toss it like my GF tried to do.

    There are perfectly good “sunlight” colored CFLs. The wait for full brightness is not that long.

    There sure are a lot of useless whiners in the world;

    I’ve used CFL’s for years and only have this problem in the garage when it is cold in the winter.

    Whining about whining seems a little ironic.

    But the CFL IS his law, nobody.

    What? A good American Whine is all most of us can afford these days, Hinds.

    I put the CFLs in the basement. Since the incandescents were rarely turned off, this seemd like a good move. I also have them in a couple places where the lights are on most of the time, and in a couple places where the lag doesn’t matter.

    I.m confused. As a kid, there was the two minute rule, if you are going out of a room for two minutes, turn off the light. What is the new rule? Am I using more juice by turning it off then on three minutes later.Where the hell do I recycle these things? Will I be slave to a space alien?

    Freeholder, I don’t know if you knew this or not, but laws are passed by Congress. Now, if Bush was spineless enough to sign such an idiotic law passed by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, that’s pretty bad – but that isn’t what you said.
