He said if I can't form a coalition to pass his agenda, crush me... That does sound like father... But deep down he's really not so bad... You just have to get past his cutthroat, competitive style... And also his narcissistic, preening grandiosity... And I suppose is prejudice against those who don't share his ethnicity status or yacht club affiliation....

Very interesting. Young Sedgie is suddenly becoming more and more reflective and thoughtful, and it’s all about pater! The senator is just a prop, and expendable (today, he sounds and somewhat looks like the current majority leader)….

Sedgewick has an uphill struggle as far as his personal development goes, since everything in his family seems designed to train him up to be a monster of greed and callousness. But he’s shown flashes of humanity before, and here he’s beginning to realise that his father is maybe not the best role model.

Hey, here’s an idea! Let’s completely deregulate business, so a handful of sociopathic billionaires are free, free, free to buy and sell our freedom. Sure! Everybody is totally honest and honorable, aren’t they? Nothing bad will happen.

Sedge is an interesting observation of the effects of “nurture” and the struggle of one’s nature to find its way out. His empathy with Senator is a good sign, among others.

Sorry, one more: Sedgewick’s accurate skewering…er, description…of his father is an uneasy reflection on the aspiration of many wannabes in describing what some would consider virtues.
