“And what did I see? I saw the Sea.” Nothing makes you feel as small & helpless as being on board a Navy warship in a bad storm. My Guided Missile Frigate was 512 ft X 52ft and we took a 46˚ roll one night.
Thank you Elmo, as I too am concerned where our country is headed. Not placing blame on any one or group of individuals, as I believe to see the cause of the problem(s) you need to look in the mirror! Unfortunately, there are way to many looking in the mirror who think only of themselves, and this is a problem for sure!
I fear for the sake of my children and my grandchildren, and wonder just what the future will hold for all of them!
I remember reading one book (I think it was called Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors) about the escort class ships that were supporting the troops invading the Phillapiens. While Admiral Haley was off facing the largest portion of the Japanise Navy, some Japanise ships snuck in and attacked the escorts who were not nearly large enough to take them on. On one of the light crusiers the captain was so disliked by his men that some of them removed a piece of the bulkhead in his quarters and slipped a handfull of ball bearings behind the panel and then replaced it so no one ever knew it had been removed. Every time the ship rolled those ball bearings bounced and rattled around the walls so the captain couldn’t sleep or even think straight. He never did figure out where the sound was coming from.
On a similar note, what most people don’t realize is that while the position of Palace Guard is honorary and there for show, every soldier that takes up the post is a highly trained SAS officer (about the equivilant of a Green Barate in US terms) and if there was an actual threat the guard could deal with it in an instant.

He should learn from these guards

It actually is pretty honorable, Rodney. If you engage in battle and defend Id. As a home for graffiti, it has its shortcomings.

Personally, there is a feeling of despair
