Only send it back if the cook is right where you can see him. OTOH, when I send it back, I have the opposite problem - it’s Over-done; so I don’t CARE what the cook does to it. It’s usually at fast food places that do not understand some folks have allergies (raw onions) - again, it’s a start over so what they do to the original is irrelevant.

As a waiter I saw the cook stomp a steak that was sent back. I don’t send food back.

I will NEVER send food back. My son once worked in a restaurant and saw the chef spit in food that was sent back. Makes ya wonder, don’t it?!
