Yup, just quit driving. America’s lust for oil is the cause. No way around that. Gee, doesn’t that sound just like the cause for drug violence? You mean WE are the guilty parties? Couldn’t be us. Or could it?
There was an auto accident this morning. Time to outlaw cars. (You’d like that, Lew, wouldn’t you?) But that is the logic behind demands to outlaw all offshore drilling.
The reason it’s so hard to stop the leak is that they are a mile deep. The reason they are a mile deep is that they are not allowed to drill closer to shore.
Assigning responsibility is not the same as casting blame. Of course BP is responsible and should pay, but the chronic haters of business, corporations, and capitalism are beating up on BP as if BP planned to destroy a fortune in investment and kill eleven employees.
BTW, have you seen the Youtube demonstrations of how easy and thorough it is to sop up oil with simple straw? I have yet do see a reason why it isn’t being done yet.
…yeah..leave poor old big business alone. The oil will be dissolved by the sea..so what if all the beaches and wildlife go?Gas prices are down,so big oil has to be our friend. If evolution is true, those birds and fishes are just really killing themselves..let natural selection do its job. This is big business screw up,they’ll fix it.Stop all government assistance…call back the Coast Guard,Navy, send out no tax cash..so what if all gulf related small businesses go under, they’ll just go on welfare getting governmental handouts..wait..this is not a government problem..don’t give the bums any welfare. How can you,on the other hand even think of asking Haliburton to shell out any cash anyway? Are they getting any use out of the oil? No,they can’t even collect it.Its the earth’s oil. This is just like an Act Of God insurance claim:no ones fault. No ones oil. It’s just floatiing out there. How can you call it BP’s oil. They don’t possess it.How can you call free flowing Earth Oil,Bp’s?They can’t sell it.Actually, you’d think some enterprising people would start collecting the oil to sell by the barrel. What a great way to make some extra cash:-) Make the welfare people clean it up…hell, they ain’t doing anything to deserve their government $$$.At least the money the government gives Haliburton is on no bid contracts…they have contracts! They earn their money!
No PS, BP did not intentionally cause the explosion but this is what happens when unregulated business skips certain steps to save money. Big business is not inherently evil but it is an uncaring entity that only cares about the bottom line. Google the “three little pigs documents” to see how BP calculated that it was cheaper to possibly lose some workers than pay for proper safety protections in the Texas refinery explosion that killed their workers. Perfect example of why we need strict government oversight.
