Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for August 16, 2015
Transcript:
Man: What do those clouds look like to you? Woman: Hmm...Like two elk stags with their antlers intertwined in a testosterone-fueled battle, neither one willing to concede even an inch of ground, only to end tragically and senselessly in the demise of both, with the bitter irony of defeating the very purpose of their role in the cycle of life. Man: Ok...not everything has to be tinged with political metaphor. Woman: Hey, tell that to the clouds.

Sounds like a lot of the readers of Non Sequitur…Only they see political metaphors in comic strips.

I’m glad that I read this at 2:00AM my time instead of my usual 7:00 on Sunday.
I can’t begin to imagine what this thread is going to look like later on…and I don’t want to see it.
I suspect that Wiley is just messing with us to see how much mayhem he can cause. Haha.

“Prison is a liberal’s paradise: free food, shelter, and clothing, and only the police carry guns.” “There’s always enough money to put you in a cage, but never enough money to train you to do a job that needs doing: you’ll have to borrow it.” I love both parties. Listening to them argue is like watching Nero fiddle while Rome burns.

Placing herself firmly on the side of the one elk who believes that the actions intended serve the good and will not cause irreparable harm which must be prevented, even at the cost of both sides. Head in the clouds, I guess…

“B.C.” for religion, “Non Sequitur” for politics..Which strips would you list as your “go-tos” for sex, drugs and rock-n-roll?

defeating the very purpose of their role in the cycle of life.".No, it doesn’t. They feed the scavengers and other lower forms, which are, in in short time returned to the soil and enrich it. The enriched soil then sprouts new life which then feeds more of their kind. The cycle goes on and on.

She sees evolution but is skeptical and cynical. He is obviously tolerant.

GAWD, my sister and I just had this conversation at lunch yesterday! LOL! My sister said she doesn’t want to hear it any more. . .and I assured her that how aggravated I get at any world/political situation depends on what I’ve had to eat, what I’ve been reading, and what kind of mood I’m in. Ya just can’t be angry ALL the time. . .well, some can, I guess). . .

So…apparently I’m now expect to justify how I split up my vacation time? Wow.
And speaking of people needing to get a life, yes, this cartoon, done 4 years ago, was very much inspired by people posting here over the years who will read politics into every cartoon, regardless of its topic.

With apologies to Judy Collins, I hope.-She sang it, as did Joni Mitchell, who wrote it (or did Leonard Cohen?).

I mist be stoopid. All I see are clouds. Actually, I always see birds, fish, or animals.

That’s what the sharks would have you believe, at any rate.

The funny part is that this is the least political set of comments I’ve seen on this strip in ages.
