OK now Mark Knopfler may be country-ish on a more folky kind of sound, but BNL is pretty much alternative sounding. As a matter of fact I can’t think of one of their tunes that sounds country-ish…
Knopfler? He did a whole CD with Chet Atkins. He isn’t only a country guitarist, but he certainly has written country songs. “When it Comes To You”, “Sometimes You’re the Windshield, Sometimes You’re the Bug”, “Daddy’s Gone to Knoxville”, “How Long” - all country songs by MK. Really, his guitar style lends itself to a country sound, all twangy and finger-picky, and he plays it better than anybody.

“Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s bad.” That’s an excellent philosophy to live by. After all, each of us has different tastes.

Students, put down your books and take out a #2 pencil
What country song did Mark Knopfler write? What country does BNL belong in.? Who ever said Johnny Paycheck could sing, country or anything?WaitingMan over 14 years ago
I absolutely loathed the “music” of N’sync. (sp?) But they were very good at what they did.

imo BNL’s ‘if i had a million dollars’ is country-ish; in fact i can easily imagine johnny paycheck singing that one

Mark was the main man of Dire Straits, a great band, not really very countryish though, his solo stuff was more folkish and had wisps of country

Wait… Is Johnny Paycheck a real person? I thought he was a parody of Johnny Cash or something.
