So at least according to thefreedictionary.com it can be spelled different ways. Who knew?…except maybe a con artist!

I fear the expectation was that “naiveté” would generate more reader mail/complaints than “naivety.” (By the way, Random House Unabridged lists both of those; the umlauted versions are shown as alternate spellings.)
