Gracie: Tia Carmen's answering service... can I help you? Gracie: When will she be available? Gracie: I'd say during the next commercial break in her telenovela.
Anyone remember the TV from about 30 years ago with the feature that you could hook it up to your phone line so you never had to leave the TV to answer a call?
Heck ya, Joe. Anything is more important than phone calls. But then, I’m from the school that decides when I want to be bothered. It frustrates the heck out of my wife when the phone rings and I ignore it. That’s what I have call answering for - I’ll get back to the caller when I’m ready.
My wife is from Korea and is the same way during her Korean soaps. She’ll answer, but as soon as she thinks someone has talked enough she’ll say “OK, bye”.

Joe, in my experience, pretty much everything is more important than phone calls.

She would just check the caller ID to determine if it rates a call back.

Considering the quality of TV, the punch line should have been “She’ll call you back between commercials!”
