DetectiveKemper: if you look closely at the third panel, you’ll see (by the hair color if nothing else) that the “mom” isn’t Pam. Nor (and for this the gene pool gives thanks) is the “dad” Brewster.
Puddleglum: DetectiveKemper isn’t saying that Pam and her family are in the last panel. Pam simply stated that her ex wants custody of the kids, and DetectiveKemper, like many of us, were scratching our heads about this new story line. Besides wondering who would have married her.
Correct, ursen. Pam’s kids have been referenced occasionally since the first week of syndication – including a couple “take your daughter to work” strips. But the kids have never been seen. Pam’s background story is that she was married, is now divorced, and has two young kids who stay in the station’s daycare / schools when she’s on duty. (And no, contrary to some misinformation, Winky is not her kid.)

Do you really want an alien that can’t do simple arithmetic taking care of your children? Especially when he’s got children on his breath.

Her ex must be one stupid man! He’s intentionally annoying a woman who is 1) armed and 2) doesn’t change jobs because she likes blasting things.

How about doing background checks.

Winky’s not one of her kids is he? Otherwise the ex may have a long list of medical bills to say otherwise…

And killbots aren’t great nannies, either.

After the incident, no one has asked me to care for kids.

Since when has Pam been married and had kids? Never in the entire run of the comic has the subject of her kids ever come up.

This reminds me of a particular Doctor Who episode…

If memory serves this ancient geezer right, Pam took her daughter to work one day to show her how to use a blaster.

There have been a number of strips in the past referencing Pam’s kids and the fact that she’s a single mother. But they don’t come up all that often.

The school and daycare are the least of their problems when Brewster and Dr. Mel are nearby

Maybe Pam should arrange a meeting between the ex and Karnor; that would end this story pretty decisively.
Trebor39 over 14 years ago
I knew from strips past that Pam had one kid. Didn’t know about the others though.

Personally, I’d arrange a meeting between Karnor and the day care alien. Give Karnor a change of pace from Homo sapiens.
Thanks for dropping by, dr. mel!

Always nice to see you, Tim! Thanks for clearing things up for those who had not read the earlier strips.
