I remember the day in first grade when we received letters to show our parents concerning school photos. The letter clearly stated (and yes, I remember reading it; I was an advanced reader) that the child should look natural. My mother decided right then & there that I was born with naturally curly hair, which I wasn’t – it was straight and very short – and gave me a perm. In my first grade picture I’m sporting an afro with a little pink yarn bow stuck in the top.

I had naturally wavy blond hair. I’m a guy, and it all fell out by 23,,, bald every since.
