My hair has always had red highlights :) I once had it dyed a beautiful shade of red that went well with my Gaelic skin, but it was soooo much work to keep up :/
The gene for red hair is recessive as is the gene for green eyes. My wife is a green eyed redhead. Our daughters are as well. Turns out my maternal grandmother is from the same part of Scotland as my wife’s family. Extensive research before ancestry.com shows no shared relations for as far as we could go and now ancestry shows none going back even further, in fact the Mrs’ family has been in Aberdeen for a few centuries and mine just moved there in the 1790s. Anyway, I carry a recessive for red hair, and have green eyes as well. Without that combo the girls would probably be green eyed brunettes.

Q: What’s the mating call of the brunette?
A. “Are the blondes all gone?”
Q: What’s the mating call of the redhead?
A: “Next” (or alternatively, “Take a number”).
My red haired wife has always been amused by that. I know plenty of men that certainly understand it. Apologies to everyone else.

My hair was more blond than red. Then by 25 it was all white. Only in one place was my hair orange on my body.

My blonde brother-in-law had a red mustache when he grew one. It’s where my redheaded nephew said he got his hair.
