I remember one fad where they had platform shoes with clear plastic heels that had live goldfish in them. I understand that there was a way to remove the heels so you could feed the fish or put it into a regular fish bowl, but there was a running gag that some people never learned how to remove the heal and just had dead fish floating around in their shoes.

Yes, platform shoes, while they were a fun trend at the time, were not the easiest or safest footwear to walk in.

I reember pictures of runway models falling because the platform shoes were so tall and heavy. ‘Fashionable’ and expensive workout equipment.

I remember platform shoes. I always thought they were ridiculous.

Some under-equipped colonial soldiers wrapped their shoes in layers of rags to get through the winter.

I’m not sure about the platform shoes. Have you seen how the men dressed back then?
