As one who consistently votes republican, I agree with Dr. Toon – as the government grows, so do the efforts of the special interests. The conservative solution does not require adding new criminal laws or other restrictions on freedom – mere abolition of the regulatory apparatus would cure 85% of the domestic problems in the US.

I think it is an awful mistake to let us pick from people who want that job bad enough that they will say and do anything to get there. We should give our positions of leadership to the people who do not want the job.How much worse a job could they do than the current crop of bozo’s and the ponzi scheme Wall streeters that back them?

I’m not aware of any libertarians who are running. And yes, I’m familiar with Rand Paul.

I just wish they had her perception and intelligence in responding to the public demands.

Fortunately, Carmen is not old enough to vote.

@ Al Nala“The Dems have no bench; couple chairs”.

Nope. The chairs refuse to run because Clint Eastwood keeps yelling at them.

I hate to say it, but your take on the 19th century sounds suspiciously like 2015…

Every time they run one of those “just plain old folks are republican” ads, Rachel Maddow outs it as purchased photos and stock footage.
