Can this mean…Petey is his own father!!! Could his weirdness have sent him through time to father himself??? Or can the artist only draw just so many faces? You decide.

…all the sights and sounds of Pig Night came rushing back to me like the hot kiss at the end of a wet fist!”
Everyone knew her as Nancy.

… Viola D’Amore? Did I just see a Finnegans Wake reference in a newspaper comic?
fritzoid Premium Member over 14 years ago
Haven’t read it myself, Christopher, but it’s highly likely. RT has mentioned his love of Joyce.
Besides, if you ever were to see a “Finnegan’s Wake” reference in a newspaper comic, isn’t this where you’d expect to see it? A month or so ago we had a hidden John Cage gag…

You tell him, Petey!

Don’t know if it’s a reference to “Finnegan’s Wake” or to the “Love Viol” itself - only Richard knows why she has that name…

He might tell us, at some point; on his blog he’s mentioned that “Otterloop” is a pun on “outer loop”, reflecting the strip’s Beltway origins…
Shameless Plug (since RT’s too modest to do so himself): The “Cul de Sac Golden Treasury of Keepsake Garland Classics” is being released early! It’ll be available this Monday, June 28. You can already order it from Amazon.com, and it’ll be delivered right to your door!

Thanks for the plug, Fritzoid!
Viola D’Amore is named after the instrument of the same name (the viola d’amore http://www.violadamore.com ) . Just because I like it. I haven’t read enough Joyce to do anything more than fake a little knowledge in his stuff for cartoon purposes (http://tinyurl.com/24zhjl3).
