Funny? In my house it would be expected! And that’s AFTER finding the glasses. And since we left yesterday for vacation, I can also say – for us – it includes after we searched for the camera, someone’s swimming trunks, and the piece of paper with our hotel reservation. Because vacations reduce stress.
Don’t put Elly down folks. Guess who packed all the “stufff’” she did. It took her hours, 2 kids, a husband and herself. Lord help her if she forgets anything! It’s always the woman who handles all of this!
gaebie: I drive a Prius and I don’t have to put the “key” into the ignition at all - it stays in my pocket. The problem is when I change clothes, I put it almost anywhere other than where it belongs. Cue the frantic search! LOL!
Somebody better let Farley and Lizzie out of the car while they hunt for the keys. They both look overheated.
I bet John yelled at everyone to get up at 6 a.m (“Everybody up, we have to get on the road and get an early start!”) and then had his coffee and breakfast while Elly finished packing the car, got the kids breakfast, got them to the bathroom, made sure everything she was responsible for (most of the stuff) was in the car, went back in, did the dishes and then went back out and waited for John to finish his coffee, watching the news, going to the bathroom and finally coming out to announce that he forgot the keys. If she rants, that’s OK with me. The last time we went on vacation, not only was this the scenario but when we were two hours from the house my husband (the last one out. “I checked everything, timers, etc. It’s all OK!”) remembered he did not set the house alarm. Two hours back. Luckily for him I was too angry to speak. Don’t be so quick to dump on Elly when she gets Pi$$ed/

At least Lizzie is in front of an open window with her head hanging out. Poor Farley is stuck in the back with no air and no prospects of getting any (air) anytime soon no thanks to John misplacing the car keys. What a doofus!
It’s not hot at 6am so don’t worry about the over heating yet. More like it’s chilly at that early in the am.
I’ve noticed that readers like to criticize Elly. Why? She seems like a cool mom and wife to me. Pretty normal scenario.
I’d bet the keys are under the packed stuff in the car……
Plus wouldn’t Elly also have a set?
The ONLY thing that gets me to travel is that my grankids are still growing (now 2 in college, 3 in HS and one just 7). They interact very well, so anytime their parents can all manage a get together - I’ll go. One son always gives me his FF miles for the trip, but I usually board my bird, and pack more than I need because I don’t know what activities will be involved. I prefer when they come to my city ;-)
There is a table by my front door where I always put my keys as soon as I walk in the house. I pick them up on the way out. I never lose my keys because they are always in the same place.
There’s a table by our front door, too, where we put things we want to take with us. One year we went on a Disney cruise, and when we got back, the brand new digital camera was safely there on the table, right where I forgot it.
Even if it IS cool on the outside, I still say poor Farley isn’t getting any air where he’s at. Just look at the expression on his face and his tongue hanging out!!!

John – They’re in that little thingy that you have to take everything out of the car to get to.

It would also be hysterical if you got slapped upside the head, John. You better find the spare key – and fast!
Poor Farley – he needs some air or space!

John, check the ignition! It is the last place you would ever look.
I rarely ever loose my keys. And when I do, they are always in the ignition from the previous day (in the garage).
