Here we go again…---Poor Luann. For someone who insists that the universe revolves around her (and only her), she has now had the misfortune to link up with someone who is unwilling to devote every waking minute to worshiping her inner beauty.

Whose romantic lead? So Luann is likely to be thinking….

I predict happy ending Saturday.. Oh wait, this is Saturday. Maybe next week.

since toni’s so much better looking than brad, and quill’s so much better looking than luann, wouldn’t destiny be better served if quill and toni get together?

Luann should start dating one of her classmates at Pitt CC who is as unfocused as she. That way they can devote full time to their relationship, instead of any silly “book learning” to prepare for holding down a job.

He’s starting to move on with his life, and it seems Luann is not a part of it?

Quill is dedicated and Luann is just goofing off with no goal in mind. Oil and water anyone?

Everyone seems to be missing the point. Luann was trying to tell Quill her news before he went back on set. But he took more interest in receiving Pru’s text messages, than listening to Luann. Who is standing right in front of him. Isn’t that supposed to be a major faux pas? If I had a girlfriend trying to tell me news, I would show her the courtesy of igoring my text messages. Or even turning them off altogether.

This does not look good. A girl will only tolerate being ignored so much. Quill better start paying attention or he may find himself alone. Stayed tuned.

Just a thought… might Quill’s looking at his phone be his reading a REPLY from Pru about a lunch date AND NOT his checking his calender to see when he next scheduled in Luann? If so, perhaps Luann & Pru will meet face-to-face?!?!?!? Could be fun!!!

Feeling alone and very small. “No Thrill Quill” is easing out of the picture.

Just once I’d like to see either TV shows or comic strips get theatre right. This looks like it’s still a fairly early stage of rehearsal. There are no costumes yet. Costumes come late in the process, after everyone is measured, and the costume people have time to design and gather items. I know Quill doesn’t normally dress like that.

It would take twice that long for me. I would see something else coming up as a tangent and go off on that tangent. And then another tangent … That’s what I hated about doing lookup exercises in the dictionaries and even encyclopedias. The reason I didn’t go into law was tangents reading California Jurisprudence, a wealth of information … and red herrings.

It’s still morning. Time for an oatmeal stout instead, preferably one with lots of chocolate and coffee brewed into it. Cheers!

What makes me sad about this is how tolerant and cool Lu has been lately about Quill’s independant side. I liked him til now but of course he’s just another inconsiderate arse, like so too many people are.

And Luann is thinking, “Where is my romance leading?”

Well, at last, a little dose of reality; Luann, have your eye’s finally been opened? They certainly appear to be open (finally).

Anyone who expects a lover to choose between their passion and them is too immature for a relationship. Their passion is essential to who they ARE—and if you don’t love their passions, you don’t love them. When Luann gets a life she’ll understand.

Aaron had some value, could be demonstrative even caring.But he got dumped by Greg.,Consider the time when the two were locked in the school library for instance..

in the last panel, Luann may be getting a clue… possibly…. Also, why isn’t she studying for her classes? and what are those classes? Now that summer is over she too should be back in school.

Judging from his shirt, I’d say it’s a play about mimes.

Gunther’s attempt to explain to Luann why Quill finds her attractive serves only to demonstrate why he maybe does so less and less these days:-

Quill’s one arm touch in the first panel is a “see ya around, buddy” touch. If it was both arms, or taking her hand, that would show real feeling. Remember Rosa’s little peck on the cheek for Gunther? Same thing. You have to feel the heat of someone’s hand to convey caring, and the touch has to linger just long enough so that the other person knows that it means something. If he cared, he would back away, still looking at her, not do a quick about face and head for the stage.

I don’t think Luann is unattractive. She actually looks best when she doesn’t try to dress up. When Greg draws Rosa, Toni and Tiffany with thick lips it’s because they’re wearing lipstick (all the time). They’re just trying to be glamorous but it doesn’t mean they are naturally more beautiful. When the mouth is drawn as a thin line it just means no lipstick. I think Bernice is attractive…. her current day to day self… She only wore lipstick once and that was at the senior prom. *The only unattractive thing about Luann is when she’s oblivious to a situation or being childish and sulking when Quill doesn’t have time for her. She’s unattractive when she’s being ‘self centered’. Even though it was Quill’s mistake that she came by the rehearsal, he acknowledged it. He doesn’t seem to be trying to hide anything from her.

The really interesting scenario would be if we meet Prudence sometime this winter, and she’s several months pregnant.

when Quill was in NYC telling Luann that he was paired w/ Pru. I believe he referred to her as a ‘girl’. He wouldn’t do that if she were twice his age.

In the fourth panel, the look on Luann’s face is one of preliminary, initial understanding of what is probably coming. And it saddens her…

I guess Luann wants Quill to get a job as a waiter at the DeGroot’s art-a-torium cafe. There’s a trailer park near her folk’s house where they can get a double-wide.

yeah. it’s hard enough to draw kids with five fingers, six fingers would be a real challenge

or maybe Brad and Luann are just destined to grow old and lonely together, wondering where it all went wrong

I really like Luann and Quill. I had hoped for a much longer romance for them…
