Hire a maid Earl to do the household chores since Opal is to lazy to do them anymore.

Opal, I’m really not liking what I’m picturing here. Either do the laundry or start shopping for clothing!

Leave the dirty laundry in the living room for three days. Oh my goodness! that smell is kind of stink. Opal, will you please put those dirty clothes in the laundry baskets and bring ‘em to the washer and then do it now.

No wonder Earl has to wear the same sweater and pants in each cartoon.

I don’t think Opal is lazy, just tired. She is a senior citizen and tires easily, no doubt. She needs help!

It’s summer, and Nelson should go to summer camp for a while…It’s all too much for her…give the poor old girl a break!! LOL

Is there a reason that Earl or even Nelson can’t do the laundry? Opal is at the age where she probably would like to retire too.

I agree that Opal is more probably tired than lazy, and I got the same question when reading comments - any reason why it must be Opal not Earl to put that dirty laundry away? I can understand if they don’t want Nelson sorting through their dirty underwear, though.

Earl washes his own dirty underwear… It all opal’s stuff. You know how women LOVE to shop… When their stuff gets dirty they just buy more… ( with Earl’s money ).

That big pile is just from three days? How many times a day do they change their clothes for it to be taller than they are?

It could be that Opal has an undiagnosed health issue. Depression or something else that is leaving her without her usual “get up & go”.

    True Story:

Our laundry (as a kid) had bigger piles than theirs, only ours had a horrible stench caused by:

Mom Only One Allowed To Do Laundry + Dirty Clothes + Pile up to Waists + Closed Environment + Clogged Sink + Overflow of Dirty Water + 5-Days of Summer Weather + Mildew/Mold = Gagging From Worse Smell You Can Imagine!

Three days of laundry is nothing, it takes 7 to 10 days to really mature.

This happened to someone I know. They didn’t keep up on laundry and just kept buying and buying and buying. Well, his wife did that. I never did find out what happened to all their clothes.

I once knew someone whose laundry pile was higher than your head and 6 or 7 feet across at the bottom. She told me that they just kept buying new clothes when they ran out. It was shocking to see.

My husband’s cousin did this. It was her, her husband and their baby girl and she would just open the garage door (they didn’t use the garage to park cars but just to store stuff) and throw the clothes in then shut the door! The pile got bigger and bigger and they just kept buying new clothes instead of washing the old ones! When they moved the pile was huge and they just threw it all away! It was terribly wasteful
