Overcoming obstacles is a challenge of life, and the attempt to do it polishes our character and shines our spirit—whether we win or lose. But only if we really try. The attitude to attack the problem with just might be, “There is no ‘try’; there is only ‘do’.”

How did he get to the far wall in the first place ? He would have had to scale down the opposite wall and cross over the beast there, where it would have eaten him.

If “wanting it badly enough” was the key, the second guy wouldn’t have slipped and Randy Pausch would still be alive.

Still, what if the brick wall you’ve overcome with such an exhaustive effort holds a prize that’s too much for you to handle or keep? To paraphrase Sydney J. Harris: Winners know when the price of winning is too high, losers strive to win what they can ill afford to handle or keep.
