Oh, I’m not sure I’m liking this: bully Dakota and bully victim Phoebe working together.

I have to say that that Shield of Boringness must be powerful indeed. We just had two kids being teleported right in the middle of the classroom, and it’s being treated as nothing more extraordinary than, say, passing notes in class.

Wow, Phoebe missed a good opening there, with Dakota offering that they do something fun together, and Phoebe doesn’t even seem to notice. XD

I’m surprised that Dakota actually apologized.

I wouldn’t call Dakota a serious bully. She jeers at people she perceives as different from or less popular than herself, which is probably the way she’s been raised, but she doesn’t go looking for victims to hound and torment, and she doesn’t seem to be compensating for feelings of inadequacy.

They’re best friends, they just don’t KNOW they’re best friends yet!

Is there still a goblin hiding in her hair?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend (or in this case at least my ally). Down with the evil tyranny of wobbly chairs-it is all a (your choice) wing conspiracy to obstruct the true meanings of sitting in a classroom all day-utter stupification through vapid droning of the prescribed curriculum that no one wants to hear or teach instead of active engagement and enlightenment.

Dana gets a lot of credit for her artwork, and deservedly so. But I’ve always been an equally big fan of her writing skills, and today’s strip is a perfect example. Here’s Dakota, reaching out to Phoebe in a completely unexpected twist. And yet it remains a perfectly believable development, and one that leaves the reader hungry for more. ( I know I am. )Well done Dana, WELL done!
