Takes me back. When I was a kid getting up early on Saturday was thing. That’s when most of the cartoons were on (didn’t have 24×7 cartoon channels back then). Up early with a bowl of sugar coated cereal to watch SuperFriends and Scooby Doo. That was the life.
When I saw a kid, Saturday morning had GOOD cartoons. Roadrunner, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam. Mallets. Anvils. Explosives. None of the happy happy joy joy stuff they devolved into.
Same old, same old for me. Streaming is unreliable at night, so I have to wake up early to watch TV now. That’s what I get for using the telephone company for my internet. I refuse to do business with our evil empire cable company.
Saturday mornings, I was out early. When I was a young kid, it was to get to my fort, or cave or to the creek catching crawdads, working in my garden or just wandering the woods. As I got older and into my teens I wanted to get out of the house and doing something before my Dad got up. If I was busy at something, he usually let me be. If not, then I had to do what he wanted done. And then TVs came on the market. Very expensive, usually around $400 for the cheapest. In about 1952, one of the neighbors got a TV. The single channel was on 4 hours from 6pm until 10pm. Sometimes on Saturday night the neighborhood kids would go to his house and watch it.Then we moved up on the mountain. No electricity, but my parents couldn’t afford one anyway. I just never acquired the TV habit. In the days before TV, reading was my passion and still is. I’m nearly 76 and still don’t have a TV.I waste all my extra time commenting on comments from commentors on comics pages.
plus she’s the only child. no squabbling about which show to watch. i was often outvoted in spite of being the oldest. i liked educational things like tom chapin before he reverted to the family business of folk music and changing the world for the better. does anybody else remember him on tv?
GoComics itself is throwing off my schedule. I used to wait for the next day’s strips at 22:10 PST, now I have to wait until 23:10 (I’m writing this at 08:39).

We jammed a flathead screwdriver into the slot on the post where the selector knob used to be Sully…

That always backfires. You just end up sleeping earlier.
