One way to keep from getting attacked, All other Pirates boarding the ship have to take a dozen zucchini.

Zucchini goes great in a lot of dishes (soups, stir fries, casseroles) and even desserts (quick breads, muffins, cakes). I’ve seen recipes for pies, but haven’t made any.

This is one of those strips where you just know a similar incident must’ve happened in the real life of the cartoonist. In fact, looking at the older Overboard strips (which focus largely around dating woes) and comparing them to those of more recent years, you can readily imagine Chip’s life gradually transforming from that of a young man playing the field to that of a more settled life, one which includes having a Labrador and tending a vegetable garden (while trying to keep pesky rabbits out!).

I just hope his house isn’t really overrun with mice, lol.

I love zucchini, but that is even too much for me!

And my zucchini has blossoms, but no zucchini, not a one, not yet. Too late now for them to do anything, sigh! And they were planted in PLENTY of time.

    Good afternoon Crew!

Or you can stir fry the blossoms and skip the zucchini stage altogether.

One plant, and it produces two new zucchinis every day.

One last comment: if the squirrels raid yours like they started to with mine (must be desperate in the drought), sprinkle them with cinnamon. They stay away from it. Works!

Didn’t get a one this year. A few of the plants are still alive, but they didn’t make a single fruit. Don’t know if it’s the soil or all male flowers. The yellow squash didn’t do any better.

    LOL! LOL!

No, I don’t know what the problem was. Been gardening a LONG time, learned from my Dad. This is the first year I have had major problems like this. The only thing that really has given me a “bumper crop” is my peppers and carrots. It has been a strange summer here though. So maybe …
