If the cat turns away, it’s gone bad.

That’s something I will never get used to when all the kids move out. Now, nothing lasts more than two days – most dinners don’t last one!

Kinda looks like a pot of homemade cat food. Our vet is a big fan – has a bunch of recipes. Cook all day; grind it up; freeze it; thaw it for use; get it to room temp – &)#%%$ cat still won’t eat it.

That pot suggests some kind of seafood boil, which would not keep well.

Arlo should know after all these years of marriage once you get past the smell you’ve got it licked.

All this ‘minds me of today. I had a double-header three-wheeled revolving epic FAIL! For the folks that wait in he alley of the church for food on Fridays I don’t belong to but attend because of my unconventional beliefs, I tried to bring three dishes that they might enjoy. The frozen Butterfingers pie came out ok (I usually make two desserts, but it takes forever to crush those little devils, and so I had to use up the ingredients I couldn’t get to last week). I was going to make a meatloaf out of a pound of ground turkey and a pound of ground chuck, but after I’d put the turkey into the bread-egg-ketchup mixture, I realized that the turkey smelled rank, so I threw the whole shebang out, then halved the recipe and just used the ground chuck. Then I carefully divided the Lipton onion soup mix in half, and managed to wind up putting all the soup mix in, but baked it anyhow. (It tasted salty, but I said oh well.) When we’d gotten the stuff to church, I found that I’d left the morass of mixed canned fruit and miniature marshmallows in the fridge. They’ll have it for breakfast at church on Sunday for members and fellow travelers, but to complete my fail, breakfast probably won’t be served on Sunday.

I don’t know what to make of this one and the comments aren’t much help. My guess would be that Arlo was supposed to feed it to the cat, the cat rejected it, so he’s eating it, and Janis is now scowling at him for either eating the cat’s food or for risking his own digestive health on 6 day old leftovers. But I don’t know many people who would feed their cat leftovers: they tend to be rather picky eaters.
