^Yes, how about a little perspective. If I recall, all presidents do a lot of their work in various places. Seems the last president started a couple of wars and still found more time to go on vacation than any other.
By the way, did you expect the president to be the actual well plugger? What on earth more can he do? He has the Coast Guard overseeing it and the culprits working to fix it. He’s got a payment system for those losing their livelihoods - and much faster than the previous administration with Katrina.
I swear, it really doesn’t matter what he does, does it? Never did.
“There are a few killers who want to stop the peace process that we have started, and we must not let them. I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you. Now watch this drive.” – GWB
Does this mean you’re finally gonna stop defending Bush for refusing to interrupt his vacations to deal with Katrina, The Tsunami, and the 8/6/01 memo?
Oh, and yer darling STILL holds the record for the most vacation time taken by a sitting Prez
“Okay dad, I’m sorry already….NOW can I go hang with my buds?”
And again, where was the outrage over Bush’s vacation time while it was going on?
Furthermore, what would you expect the President to be doing if he weren’t golfing?
And btw, this is ONE, repeat one afternoon of golf, not even a whole day. You want to compare that to the 977 days Bush took off? I don’t think so. And no, this isn’t history, the hypocrisy is going on right now.
Finally, where is the outrage over Tony Hayward here? I haven’t seen anyone from the right expressing even the slightest umbrage over his yachting trip. It’s all ‘What about Obama?”
“But okay for the Messiah to go to parties, fundraisers, basketball courts, National’s games and golf.”
You mean Bush? After all he was the one who said God wanted him to be president.
“And again, where was the outrage over Bush’s vacation time while it was going on?”
Don’t you remember? Anyone who may have mentioned that was shouted at and pointed at by the Right as being unpatriotic. “How DARE you disagree with our President in a time of war?!”
“It’s all ‘What about Obama?””
Because Obama should be walking on water calling upon God in heaven to come down in a pillar of light and plug that dang hole. ………… Oh wait no, that’s Louisianians. Go go Gadget Day of Prayer!
Simon, If it is ok for Obama to take off and schedule a tee time in the middle of a crisis, it can’t be bad for Hayward to sail in a race that he has had scheduled for (likely) quite a while before the gulf crisis. You can’t have it both ways. I would say it is bad that both actions were taken, but Obama scheduled it right during the heart of the problem and it is not one round of golf, it has been many.
I am not defending BP who needs to take responsibility for their actions.
As far as Bush taking vacations; yes he took too many, but using your logic Bush was working during most of those so called vacations, just as I am sure you claim Obama is working when he is in Hawaii, Chicago, Kenya, campaigning for Democrats, golfing, playing basketball, and hosting concerts. I travel for work, and yes I am working when I am not in my office. Technology allows that. Nobody parties harder than Obama, but he does it right there in the White House so it is all right with you.
Whenever something major happens on the terrorist front or overseas, it seems that we never hear from Obama for days, because he has to analyze the situation and figure out how it best fits his agenda and serves his base. Everything is political to this president, and how it will make him look in the history books.
Personally, I think all presidents and Congress people are out of touch with most Americans.
“it can’t be bad for Hayward to sail in a race that he has had scheduled for (likely) quite a while before the gulf crisis”
I personally don’t care that he was on his yacht. Sitting there every moment of every day doesn’t solve a problem. It’s called rotation and recovery.
“Everything is political to everybody, and how it will make him look in the history books.”
Every single incident has been politicized by both sides. It’s either an opportunity to show how you’re better or an opportunity to attack the other side or both.
Who is ( or was ) the CEO of the company that CAUSED that crisis? Obama or Hayward?
And again, we’re talking Obama taking ONE afternoon off…takes a bit longer than that to compete in a yacht race.
If you think it was okay for both of them to take time off, fine, no problem….but cons on this board are ONLY bashing Obama.
And it isn’t just happening on this thread…or on this board. I stopped counting at twelve the number of times I’ve seen conservatives on the net accuse Obama of ‘fiddling while Rome burns.”
BTW were you driving longhaul when you did that Bruce? If so, were you driving as a team, and using a sleeper berth?
How long has Obama taken off as opposed to how much work time he’s put in? He’s not the on-site supervisor here…that’s supposed to be BP’s job.
And again…where was all this, “if you can’t take the heat, leave’ talk when Obama’s predecessor was taking extended vacations, a hundred times longer than he has.
BTW…I find it interesting that you tell me to chill out, but not davesmith, harley, or any of the other angry righties on this thread.
And after all the brush was cleared and the election was over, wasn’t that “ranch” sold? The cowboy bought a house in Dallas suburb. When reporters were being interviewed “at the ranch,” there was farm-like backdrop behind them. When Bush daughter was married, the reporter was asked about something or someone, and her response was “I don’t know. We are seven miles from the house.”
Where was I, Bruce, I was outraged….only in my case it wasn’t manufactured outrage, the way it is here.
And yes it is manufactured. Bush sits on mount Everest and no one on the right looks up. Obama sits down on a molehill, and they all point and scream, ‘Would you look at him up there!”
This whole thing just goes to prove what I’ve always believed; that the ultra-cons don’t really care about the issues that face our country or dealing with our problems, they just want to see their side win, coz it makes them feel like winners.
To the righties, this whole thing is nothing more than a sporting event.
As for you Tigger, got anything to back up that claim, or am I supposed to believe it just coz YOU said so?

All the while our very own “Nero” fiddles on the golf course for the umpteenth time!
But I guess there are a lot of things accomplished on a golf course. Not much in the way of capping an oil well, though.
How about a little perspective here?

You know Harley, your comments are truly hilarious. How do you know what Obama’s motives were?
Crystal ball? Tarot Cards? Psychic Friends Hotline?
What’s really laughable is this: For the past week, all I’ve been hearing from the righties is that Obama shook down BP for the money.
( See Jim Morin’s cartoon on the subject. )
But now that the right needs to bash him for inaction, POOF! BP is magically GIVING that money away.

Obama caused it by being president and a liberal because liberals/environmentalists forced BP at gunpoint to go all the way out there to drill.WarBush about 14 years ago
