I LOVE Alice’s expression of impending outrage/’why are you annoying me with this’ in panel 2- it’s like a looming thunderstorm that suddenly veers away!

THis is so funny, usually kids are fighting to get OUT of those carts but Alice and Dill are fighting to get IN! Go Dill, Go Alice, show ‘em how it’s done! :)

“‘Herd’ ?? … or … Herder ?? ??”
Either is acceptable, I would think. A goatherd herds a herd of goats, a shepherd herds a herd of sheep. In neither case do you need to say “goat herder” or “sheep herder.”
(However, a potsherd does not herd a herd of pots.)

dotto, Webster’s confirms “potsherd.” The word dates from the 14th Century.

Shepherd, goatherd, etc… You don’t need to say “herder.”

fritzoid, My bad. I became so inured to righteous rants, I apparently missed the gag.
vldazzle over 14 years ago
How great to get to be in a significant parade and not have to walk the whole route- fun for the kids and photo ops for their parents (even though grocery carts are not all that…)
cutiepie29 over 14 years ago
The “yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek” is cute until you actually hear it, usually in a high C pitch. My kids can do it far too well.
fritzoid Premium Member over 14 years ago
No worries, dotto. You made me doubt myself, and I’ve posted enough righteous rants in my time that I can see where you might have expected one…
