    Wait…

    What?

The new story arc is beginning already!?

    I can’t believe it!

I am glad though, that the chief appreciates the importance of Tracy getting as much rest and relaxation as he possibly can.

What with him being so tirelessly devoted to his job and all.

    Also:

It appears the newspapers know about the disappearance of the tycoon, but the police do not.

Hopefully they will read the paper soon, and then Dick can stand around, run, hide, and cower in fear for a couple of months, until the case solves itself.

THE GREAT MENTO PREDICTS: The newspaper headline foreshadows a situation which will unfold slowly and inexplicably for weeks. Tracy will stand around and say the same thing many times, but not actually do much except have a gun pointed at him. A villain will do something. Tracy will do nothing. Something surprising will happen to the villain. Someone will explain the villain’s motivations.

Then, more foreshadowing of ANOTHER EXCITING ADVENTURE.

OK, so the bum is the tycoon. Now, can we move onto a more interesting story line?

OMG, I think you’ve called it! Too bad it will take Tracy three months to arrive at the same conclusion.

leaky I thought Liz looked more like a mummy. old tracy I agree with you.

When was the last time DT actually was involved with a case when he wasn’t trying to relax?

This time he was in a play. Last time he went to a concert. The time before was the circus? Previously helping relatives. Was it the story with the robots that he’s trying to recover from?

the maddening part is that the police get their information about recent crimes through the morning papers while they hang around and chit-chat

This is the end of the line for Dick Tracy and me. I agree with all the postings here that say there is no continuity in the artwork, the plots are lame, and Dick Tracy actually does nothing to solve crimes. I was just waiting for the Science Museum story arc to end. I’ve had it with this strip. I’ll still be reading other GoComics strips and leaving the occassional posts elsewhere, but I am taking Dick tracy off my list as soon as I post this message.

Why do newspaper headlines always talk about “City Tycoon” and “Country Tycoon”? Why don’t they identify them by name, or just say “Tycoon”? They always say “City Tycoon” … I can’t understand why they always do that…. Oh wait. They don’t.

This is what, the fourth story in a row in which Tracy, while seeking R&R, stumbles into a major crime situation? What does this tell us?

Nurpleburg is apparently crawling with crime, if three consecutive outings (the circus, the symphony, and the museum) all lead to murder.

Nurpleburg apparently has no functioning police department, as they are consistently unaware of the crimes until Tracy stumbles into them.

Tells me I’m glad I don’t live in Nurpleburg!

The homeless person has appeared twice.He/she will undoubtedly be involved in the next story, probably chasing DT around Jimmy Hale Mission. Or maybe the homeless person is actually the missing tycoon-Yeah,I’ll go with that.

Why does Tracy need time for rest and relaxation? He’s already had time enough to heal from his injuries.

Maybe that bum is the actor who got shot on stage. Everybody forgot about him. Nobody even cares whether he’s dead or alive. What’s an actor whom everyone has forgotten? A bum.
