An interesting development! No matter what, a Happy & Safe Halloween to everyone!

Movie.

Finally back to real life and I still don’t think that Boss Tracy’s hat and coat are the right colour.

Gotta admit, the boys dragged it out just long enough.

An award goes to Sydney who I think was the first to say that we’ve been watching a movie being filmed.

.Good morning guys!.Is this another show at the Science Museum? Those steps are really hard on me!

Lucky most of the “characters” being depicted herein have passed, or there’d be lawsuits flying in Tracyville.

@cpalmeresqNash would be the name of the actor playing the role of “Boss Tracy” not the real Dick Tracy.

Either that or Nash is playing The Chalice, but it’s the Boss Tracy actor who flubbed his line.

So that means 88 Keyes will NOT be added to my death list.Can’t wait to see what this is really about.

Ahhh…so they’re making a movie.

It seems Nash has trouble with his lines. Is he some washed-up B movie actor? An associate of Vitamin Flintheart?

The director reminds me of someone, Steven Spielberg — no, more like Rob Reiner. Anyone know who is bald(ing) and has a ponytail? (I suppose it’s kind of a stereotype, but stereotype are usually based on something.)

I do not think this movie will make money. Bad script, bad actors, a good combination for a box office bomb. Time to move to real time and good script. Bring in the baddies and the hotties. VENUS LIVES

Hmm. I was right in guessing that we’d get the reveal today, but kinda disappointed at what it was.

We’ve seen 24 different characters so far in this story, all of them characters in the movie with lines. I’ve been keeping track. This is a big production! In addition Arev Alldid was mentioned but not seen, and then we have the actors and director and the cameraman from “real life” Tracy today.

Trick or Treat or Tracy????

I tought it was some sort of cosplay, didn’t think a movie! Well, if I were Sam Catchem I’ll sue! This would be real life fan fiction (real life tracyverse-wise, of course) But how can one botch such a simple line? What a dolt!

The hat and coat are not right, unless that is deliberate, as “Chalice” is taking on the role of Tracy and has his style of coat. I applaude the stretch in the writing. Way to go Mike.

Who would have expected a major budget movie being shot in Tracyville?! It is almost certainly a big-budget production, though the cast lead (“Boss Tracy,” portrayed by Mr. Nash) and some of the other actors seem iffy at best, and the script is a confusing abomination, probably out of some Hollywood creative genius’s coke-addled dreams.But now we know. Will all this foreplay tie into the main plot line, presumably now forthcoming, or has this just been an interlude with no significance outside of its own entertainment value?

Also, we’ve been “watching” this movie the past couple of weeks as if it has already been made. Smooth scene changes, in order. They don’t actually film a movie that way, in order like that. Now today a director yells “cut!” May be that is why most of us did not suspect a movie.

And I wonder what pun or reference the actor “Nash” has in his full name? Nash Tee? “Teeth” Nash?

Well, that explains it.

And just before the Director shouted “CUT !” . . . .

Seems ‘Boss Tracy’ was about to add . . . “So - you’re, the ‘so called’ Investigator who stole my other Coat?”

What a relief! it’s just a movie! Whew!

If this is the end of the villains-fest, I’m disappointed we won’t get Stooge Viller!

I’m kind of disappointed by this. Movies are rarely shot in story sequence, so it was misleading to us. I’ve no problem with that, I just thought we’d have a bigger (and more logical) payoff than a director yelling “Cut!”-Well, it was fun while it lasted…

And the question you have to ask yourself is…..Is this a trick…..or a treat?

HA! I knew this was going to be cleared up on the 31st.

Sydney isn’t the only one who speculated that we were watchging drama – and bad drama at that! If Team Tracy were fishing, I’d say they caught a trotline full! And some were fawning that “this was the best storyline yet!” And then there are those who didn’t bother to comment.

OK, we have the “trick”… what will be the “treat?”

Should have added, that ‘meaningful activity’ in a Dick Tracy story, usually commences only after a Crime . . .

That suggests, one is near, around the corner ! (?)

Like Mrs. Pruneface, he ‘knew’ the importance of ‘Cracking the Whip’ - early !

Noooo! I want more alt-universe Tracy! So disappointed this a movie!

Well, that was indeed interesting, and enjoyable. It was nice to see the old villains back, even if it was in such a mirror like universe.

Well that was a bummer. I was hoping it was an alternate reality in which they find Smith’s device (Blue…something).

A very pleasing start to this story. A move films in Tracytown. Crime must be on the horizon. The fun set-up has allowed Mr. Staton to “revive” some classic Gould characters. Canon rests easy, not disturbed by actors playing dead villains. The murderous, maniacal Sam “Trigger” Catchem was especially fine. Perfect way to “bring back” Flattop. A creative way to pay homage to some great faces. This trick is a treat.

Darn, I wish it had on gone longer so our favorite Space Bunny could have had a cameo. It would have been fun to see Moon Maid as a bad girl hehe. Still, well done! I honestly had no idea what was going on until I first saw today’s strip.

Man, oh man did that word “CUT” answer way too many questions. I am so glad too. There is was much intrigue this go-a-round; wouldn’t you say?

Didn’t see that one coming. Would have preferred an alternate universe story line just to see how things would have played out.

I’m betting that Vera Alldid wrote the script.

I’m guessing that he wouldn’t have put a parody of himself (“Arev Alldid”) into the script if he wrote it. Besides, his J. Straightedge Trustworthy comic strip seemed to be pretty successful last we knew (fancy office, etc.). I find it hard to imagine him going in a totally different direction.

There were many theories and several came to the same conclusion. But after checking back, you were the first to speculate that it was a movie. Using the fact that Mike used to run a movie theatre and with the knowledge that he is somewhat of a movie geek, we probably all should have suspected it. Congratulations on your excellent perception.

I wasn’t keeping score of guesses. I know that Sydney did mention the movie possibility a few times, along with the Patterson Playhouse speculation and a few others, but it may well have been you who first proposed that it was a film.

I don’t blame them for fooling us. I just feel that the payoff is rather anticlimactic.____________________

That might be because this isn’t the climax … it’s more like the pre-title sequence of “You Only Live Twice”

In a way, it seems a lot like the opening of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” Throughout it all, it seems like a regular screwball cartoon. Then Roger flubs an… effect, we hear an offstage “cut,” and we see that the cartoon is being filmed as a regular film on a set with toon “actors.”

Even today’s twist is intriguing. So they’re filming a movie of Tracy, but it’s not just any movie about Tracy. It’s a movie that depicts him and his friends as villains while portraying their enemies as heroes. That suggests something sinister about this film.

Cut the poor guy some slack. He’s just as confused as some of the readers are.

Well, I’m sure he is. At least The Chalice has the right colour clothes, but that was easy since he appeared last Sunday. I’m assuming we won’t see Boss Tracy’s costume tomorrow or maybe any time soon, so the GoComics guy couldn’t do anything more than guess. It’s definitely not an easy job to know all the characters from all the different strips, their motivations, etc. I don’t blame him for not being perfect. I’m sure I couldn’t do better.

Mike and Joe cheated a bit to get us here, but I think their biggest cheat was that caption the Monday this story began which read, “Night Mantles The City …"

Misleading, at the very least.

But at least I think we’re privy to most/all of the players now.

Be funny if this played out more as a court case than a police procedural though.

It’s too bad. I’d have loved seeing Flattop tracking down Tracy.I hope we get some sort of explanation, other than, “Boo!”

I wonder who’s bankrolling this film. Whoever it is, it’s not a fan of Dick Tracy, that’s for sure.

Gweedo’s missing! Igor, the caretaker let him in the cemetery for the annual Halloween party at our crypt and he hasn’t shown up yet! I hope he is ok! There’s a lot of trick or treating tonight and I hope he is wearing the “Not Edible” shirt we gave him!

OK, so it’s not a dream sequence. Still lame.

Well, this event didn’t really surprise me because I knew this wasn’t a real story, just something from someone’s imagination. At some point I thought this might be a movie because movies have been parts of stories before but I thought it unlikely since this movie is kind of bizarre and probably wouldn’t be supported by the people as displayed.

So, what happens now? The big surprise is out. Are there any more? Another surprise could be waiting if this story is going to continue in the real Tracyworld. Personally. I’d rather they wrap it up and get on with a new story. Although, a better explanation of what happened to the Blackhearts would be nice.

Sure, Dick doesn’t have to sue, but what right does he have to tell Pruneface and etc… that they can’t sue? They have every right if their likeness is used without their permission. Even criminals have rights in that regard, but also then again, what’s stopping them from just outright murdering the cast and crew, like The Joker did when a guy designed a casino after his image.
