Al NalaI wanted a small college to bridge the gap between high school and university, and chose one in the center of Arkansas. A fellow student was from about 300 miles from the southern tip of Brazil. He mentioned that when going home, when he reached the northern tip of Brazil, he would be halfway there. We all immediately headed for the library for a piece of string and a large globe. It was precisely half..Pharmakeus UbikMy last geography class, titled as such, was in 1944, so mid-20th century. Liberia and Egypt were the only nations in Africa, the rest were colonies; Cuba, Haiti, and Dominican Republic were the only island nations in the Western Hemisphere; Austria and Czechoslovakia were part of Germany as were Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia part of USSR (although they had embassies in Washington, we didn’t in their capitals).
