Do they seriously still have parking meters in America? In the Netherlands those have all been replaced by mobile parking. You subscribe to a service like Parkline or Yellow Brick and enter the parking zone code on your (smart)phone using sms or an app. The parking costs are automatically invoiced at the end of the month. And you never have to run outside to fill up the meter and you don’t have to carry a pocket full of small change.
I fear the end is pretty much here, at least for printed media.
I’m not sure this is a good thing. The assumption is the technology will still be able to reproduce data from the past in the future. Data or photos for that matter, when printed on stone or papyrus or paper can be preserved for future generations with nothing other than the eye needed to comprehend. I’m sure there are many who firmly disagree; or worse yet, don’t care…
We visitied Germany recently and it seemed that newspapers were alive and well there. Another thing we noticed is that we rarely saw anyone looking at their phone. FWIW.
