He made the grease jar all by himself, too!He merely washed out an empty trail mix jar, reserving the lid for another purpose, and stuck on a file cabinet label (courtesy of U-Stor-It) upon which he’d written “Grease” in large letters.

As soon as the hot grease melts both flimsy plastic items, he can make a sign that says AMBULANCE for Joy to tape to the side of her car , so maybe she won’t get a ticket for speeding him to the hospital with those 3rd degree burns.

Pretty bad when you need a funnel to pour grease in a 5 lb. coffee can. Very smart of you Burl. Ma must be so proud of you..

Uh, the caps are hardly big enough to use as coasters. But the funnel thing? GENIUS!

Never know when it’ll pay to drag out those old Cub Scout Wolf, Bear, and Lion/Weblos books out of the attic, and embark on something “creative & ingenious”!!

Remember that grease occupies a vital place in the Crustwood Food Pyramid of Deep-Fried Goodness.

    Donuts

. Onion Flower. Porkbelly Confit. Bacon Cheese Fries. Sausage Gravy Biscuits. Deep-fried Breaded Grease Balls..Not that the Penny’s will ever actually make the effort to cook any of this stuff. Except for Burl’s occasional midnight spoonfuls, Joy will periodically use 50 gallons of hot water to flush the current grease reserves down the drain where it will join with all the other Crustwood household contributions to form an enormous hairy fat plug that will require the City to bring in a special sewer sucking big rig to clear. .I’m assuming Burl had to cook several packages of bacon (Gimpy Pig brand, Use-By date blacked out, from the Chintzy Nickle store) so that he could have enough grease to run his demo. Otherwise, It’s hard to imagine the Penny’s not having sopped up every speck of delicious congealing goodness with their Wonder Bread.

In all seriousness, I’ve made funnels from soda bottle tops. They are great for filling the lawn mower or other I-don’t-ever-want-use-this-again jobs.

HelenF… it won’t be quite so jarring…. or maybe that’s “jar-ish”… when it’s a melted pile of plastic and hot grease.
