The mantra of a 6 year old, “Don’t trust anyone over 10”. Mine (I have more than one), are more along the lines of “Age is merely mind over matter, if you don’t mind, it don’t matter”, and, “60 is the new 70”.
Interesting. You’re saying this as the 2 leading contenders (or has Carson dropped that much) are claiming that Muslims in NJ were in the street celebrating in 2001 and a few weeks ago after the bombing in France. They’re completely making it up.
In the last primary when it looked like Hillary was going to be nominated, I had decided that I would vote for anyone nominated by the GOP. Incredibly, they have managed to find candidates so awful, that I have to reconsider that. Hillary’s nomination is a real possibility and these guys are killing me.
“The prescience is just amazing… or is it just the case of not remembering the past and repeating it?”Exactly. History doesn’t exactly repeat, but people never change, so the same sorts of things keep happening.
It’s clear that several folks here consider Obama to be the worst President since Lincoln, who they’ll never forgive for ruining their nice Confederacy. But then it’s likewise obvious (and tragic) that the “Party of Lincoln” has, over the last few decades, morphed into the “Party of Jefferson Davis.” While they may worry me, I, for one, can not take such people seriously.
Some days, I think I see why Watterson quit. This strip doesn’t look like the more whimsical C&H we got used to; it looks a bit like a warning from a man that was looking beyond his role as a cartoonist for mass-consumption. It doesn’t diminish my appreciation of his art; in fact, he was so prescient, it’s still a privilege to read his work (early or late).

As the Chinese might have wished us, we live in interesting times. That, of course, is a malediction.
