Roger: Hey, kids, seeing as you're out of school and I've quit my job, I thought we could spend the summer doing fun things together! We could hang out together at the mall... hanging out together at the ice cream parlor... hang out together at the pool... Jason: Could we play a game first? Roger: Hide-and-seek? Excellent choice.

Even though this is only a comic strip reminds most of real life. When my kids where little waited months before telling us anything. Then we tell them what ever the problem to late for us to work on. Kids try things on their own, get in trouble, and can’t handle what comes us. Or peer pressure to try trouble and get hooked devastate families when a youngster gets over their heads because cool to do and they’re my family. NOT But in this case Roger needs to go back to work the kids don’t want parent with them and mom knows it.

Kinda sad, this whole scenario.

Why is it that cartoon teenagers are so DEVASTATED to be seen with their parents? I’ll admit, my mother does some weird things (interrupting goodbyes to go, “say bye, honey”), but come on.
Are they ageist, or trying too hard to look rebellious, or what?

i think that they’re trying to run away from Roger. this family-time thing is getting kinda ridiculous. i know that i would go crazy if my dad did that.

I would be surprised if any kids their age want a full-time adult playmate. My kids enjoy it if I play an hour or so with them, but I can tell that they don’t want me to spend the whole day playing with them. And my kids are not the typical “don’t want to be seen with my parents in public” type, because we homeschooled them.

And don’t forget this is Roger, the personification of the clueless father/husband. He could embarass his family in a sealed capsule!
